Film Stills ~ Montana Fine Art & Editorial Photography

From a series I never completed in the early 90's: film stills from movie sets I was never on, and the pictures I would have taken had I been. Can you guess the movie?

Portland Photo Month ~ Montana Fine Art & Editorial Photography

Last February 2013 we travelled to Portland to see my work in a show at the Newspace Center for Photography and had time to make it out to the coast as well. I just found out that two of my images from that trip will be included in Photolucida's juried show Then. Here. Now.:

"...a slideshow celebration of Oregon – its people, its landscape, its unique character and special history. Curated by Laura Moya and Laura Valenti Jelen, the slideshow includes images by contemporary photographers paired with historical images of the beautiful state we call home. The slideshow will be presented at a gala event at the Oregon Historical Society on April 16th and will run in a continuous loop in the front window of Blue Sky/Oregon Center for the Photographic Arts throughout the month of April."

So if you are in Portland watch for Dead Things With Sugar in Blue Sky's Pacific NW Viewing Drawers from April 2014 through March 2015 and my landscapes in their windows throughout the month of April. Someday maybe I'll be on their walls too.

Dead Things With Sugar: The Birds ~ Montana Fine Art & Editorial Photography

Dead Things With Sugar continues - much to my surprise.  I thought she had found all the interesting bones there were to find and then she found feathers.  A nice change to the hard edges of bones.

For the complete series visit my website and the Dead Things With Sugar portfolio.

LOOK3's LOOKbetween ~ Montana Fine Art & Editorial Photography

Went on Sugar's walk with her today in the perfect cold and watched snow gently falling off the trees (see photo below).  Then I got some amazing news that I had been nominated (nominator unknown) to attend the LOOK3 Festival of the Photograph's Lookbetween weekend in VA.

From the email: "LOOKbetween is a forum for the critical engagement of ideas and craft, addressing the issues that photographers grapple with today. Attendees participate in presentations, discussions, collaborative projects, collegial critique and more with many of today’s leading photographers and industry professionals. Attendees are nominated by an international community of photography professionals and selected based on accomplishment, commitment, and vision. With an emphasis on diversity, we’ve invited seventy-five early career photographers from seventeen countries to participate in LOOKbetween 2014."

Surprised and honored and I look forward to attending and getting to VA in early summer.

Blue Sky Pacific NW Viewing Drawers ~ Montana Fine Art & Editorial Photography

Really happy and honored to be selected for the second year in a row to have my work part of Blue Sky Gallery's Pacific NW Viewing Drawers.  Currently my Hungry Horse series is represented there and in April Dead Things With Sugar will be a part of them along with the work of other selected regional photographers from Alaska, British Columbia, Washington, Oregon, Idaho, and Montana.
