Rock Star Logan ~ Montana Dog & Pet Photography

Logan and I go back a ways. We met in agility classes when Sugar first started out her athletic career over 3 years ago. Sugar got lazy but Logan with his human, Christy, have just kept on going like rock stars. Christy and he rescued each other in 2004 when Logan, a pit bull who will be 8 in November, had already been through four other homes being returned each time for his rowdy behavior and had been labeled a "dangerous dog" by the local SPCA. He couldn't have been luckier than to have been found by Christy who has the skills, time, and love to redirect all that energy! He is now (drum roll, please...) a certified therapy dog, has earned titles in obedience, has his masters titles (MX and MXJ) in agility and is currently the #10 American Staffordshire Terrier in the USA for agility. And for a little perspective on his jumping skills Christy is six feet tall.

Way to go Logan and Christy!

The Top of the Mountains ~ Montana Documentary Photography

Mr. Bob Martin in the parking area of the Swan Lake National Wildlife Refuge...

"I'm viewing the tops of the mountains I can no longer climb.

At 16 I moved to the Swan Valley after leaving home on a farm in Oregon in 1934. Things were just bad there. And ever since I got here I've had friends.

The oldest man in the world, here in Montana, just turned 114 and I can't believe that's all the time I might have left."

to be continued...

Nature Girl ~ Montana Dog & Fine Art Photography

Sugar as landscape.

On a recent day's journey down to Holland Lake with the ever exhuberant Sugar, we discovered that there is little distinction between her and the land when all is beautiful.

Laura & Dan + Blake ~ Montana Dog & Pet Photography

I mentioned in my blog post of Laura & Dan's wedding back in June that their dog unfortunately couldn't be there. Luckily I was back in NJ within a few weeks of their wedding to get together for a family portrait session featuring their energetic smooth fox terrier, Blake.

Journey To Polebridge ~ Montana Documentary Photography

I journeyed up to Polebridge, Montana recently to the open house given annually by artist Peter Moore. Polebridge is located 30+ miles north of Columbia Falls in the North Fork Valley of the wild and scenic Flathead River between the Continental Divide on the east and the Whitefish Range to the west and at the northwestern entrance to Glacier National Park. Make that 30+ miles of unpaved road. It is also the only town in the lower 48 that runs entirely on a generator. Oh, and the Polebridge Mercantile is the only store there and has the best baked goods and sandwiches, plus a few characters hanging about. After the visit to Peter's which included art, wilderness golfing, and a lesson on mushrooms with some magical properties, we headed out to Bowman Lake in Glacier National Park. One of my most favorite Montana days yet, and Sugar would probably agree.
